So far, I have completed my outline for the written component and started writing my first draft. I believe that I am about halfway through the draft right now, and I am already close to the word limit. All I need to do to finish the draft is to write out the rest of my points and a conclusion paragraph, and insert more quotes. So far, I only have two from my External expert, Professor Kent Wall.
Central Ideas
I think the central idea that I am getting across in my paper is that people prefer reboots and remakes of older movies over original films, because the older properties bring back fond childhood memories to the viewers.
Artifact
I am having a harder time with the artifact section of this reflection and project, because we haven't really talked about this aspect of the project and all of the instructions I received still were not clear. With the topic that I am researching, it is also difficult to think of many ways to make my project interactive. So far, the only idea I have been able to generate is to make a fake trailer for a rebooted movie using all of the points I have learned from my written component. This will be difficult, if not impossible, to pull off this spring due to the Coronavirus outbreak. If anyone has any more ideas for my artifact, I will be open to them.
If I end up doing the fake trailer idea, then I would need to choose a property that hasn't been rebooted yet, write a script, get a cast and crew together to film the trailer, and then I would edit on my own. This will be very difficult to pull off due to social distancing.
Next Questions
What else can I do for my artifact, since I doubt I will be able to film a fake trailer during this pandemic? Are we still having a Senior Symposium due to Coronavirus? Is my Thesis Statement effective? I am still not 100% sure.
What more do I need?
I need to finish my written component and come up with more realistic ideas for my artifact.
