Oberon |
Theseus |
Oberon is the closest thing this story has to a “villain”. He is a very greedy fellow and is charismatically evil. He wants full custody of the changeling boy so he can train him to fight in wars and conquer more land. Oberon is constantly making schemes to steal the boy from his terrible wife, Titania. He finds Titania’s bubbly personality to be very annoying. Sometimes, Oberon gets his henchman, Puck, involved in his schemes whenever they involve pranks or other impractical jokes. This time, Oberon plans on having Titania fall in love with a beast, so he could guilt her into giving him the changeling boy.

Theseus is a mild mannered Duke who is very excited about marrying Hippolyta. He is generally classy and optimistic, and loves watching and making fun of plays that are so terrible that they are good. Theseus hopes that his wedding day goes well and is not spoiled by the lovers' dilemma.
|
Titania |
Hippolyta |
Titania is more bubbly and enthusiastic than her terrible husband, Oberon. While Oberon has a single henchman, Titania has a whole squad of fairies that do her bidding. She wants full custody of the Changeling Boy so she can be a helicopter mom without Oberon getting in the way. She tries manipulating her husband to get what she wants, especially since Oberon’s evil plans drive her crazy. Her strategy to getting full custody is to flirt with a beast, so Oberon would be jealous enough to give her the boy.
|
Hippolyta is very subservient to Theseus. She is pretty much the opposite of Titania. Hippolyta loves Theseus, but would sometimes rather not be treated as a prisoner, since the Amazons were captured by the Greeks. She’s more of a representation of ladies in society than an actual character.
|
Cobweb |
Moth |
Cobweb is very arrogant and thinks he is better than all of the other fairies. He wishes that he had a more important job than just being Titania’s servant. Cobweb tells Bottom that he is the leader of Titania’s fairy squad, despite that role going to Peaseblossom. Cobweb makes a lot of sarcastic remarks throughout the movie.
|
Moth is a Monotone fairy with a raspy voice. Moth would rather be doing anything else but help Titania. Moth succeeds by appears for one scene.
|
Mustardseed |
Changeling Boy |
Mustardseed tends to get nervous a lot. He is just trying to keep Titania safe from Puck and his pranks. When Titania executes her plan of flirting with a beast, Mustardseed fears that Oberon and Puck might have tampered with her emotions through a love potion. He tries warning Titania about this, but none of the other fairies believe him, even though the audience knows that he is correct.
|
The Changeling Boy is dumb as a doorknob. A lot of this small child’s humor comes from Oberon and Titania talking about how smart he is and then saying lines like “This green stuff coming out of my nose tastes funny”. He's more of a plot device than a character, so there are not any motivations present in this story.
